“Home is where I want to be. Pick me up and turn me round.”
~ Talking Heads
I love the lyrics of this song. I was never much of a Talking Heads fan until I read their lyrics. They’re beautiful.
I am moving into a new home this week. It is the most glorious feeling to know that in a few short days, I will have the joy and honor of being able to settle into this new space. I’ve been fortunate enough to have spent the last few months house sitting in a lovely home but there is nothing like having your own space.
When you don’t have your own space you feel unsettled, ungrounded, and it feels hard to plan for the future. You do your best to surf all the waves as they come towards you but you’re swimming, never resting, never on solid ground.
We need a home base. We need a place where we can come back, tap out, and rest. We need our homes to be a place of stability, a place where there’s one less worry.
“If someone asks, this where I’ll be… where I’ll be”
